ইন্টারমিডিয়েট কলেজের মর্যাদা লাভ
Raised to intermediate college
স্থানীয় জনগণের দাবির পর জেলা স্কুলটি ইন্টারমিডিয়েট কলেজে উন্নীত হয়। দুবলহাটির রাজা হারালাল রায় বাহাদুরের আর্থিক সহায়তায় মাত্র ছয়জন শিক্ষার্থী নিয়ে ১ এপ্রিল ১৮৭৩ সালে এফ.এ. কোর্সের যাত্রা শুরু হয়।
After demands from local people the district school was raised to an intermediate college. With financial help from Raja Haralal Roy Bahadur of Dubalhati, the F.A. course began on 1 April 1873 with just six students.

প্রথম ব্যাচের পরীক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে মাত্র দুজন উত্তীর্ণ হওয়ায় সরকার কলেজটি বন্ধ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে উদ্যত হয়। পরে রাজশাহী অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের হস্তক্ষেপে সেই সিদ্ধান্ত থেকে সরে আসে।
Only two of the first batch passed, and the government moved to close the college. It stepped back after the intervention of the Rajshahi Association.

ধিগপাথিয়ার রাজা প্রমোদনাথ রায় বাহাদুরের ১,৫০,০০০ টাকার অনুদান এবং রাজশাহী অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের উদ্যোগে কলেজটি ডিগ্রি কোর্স চালুর অনুমোদন লাভ করে।
A grant of 1,50,000 taka from Raja Promodanath Roy Bahadur of Dighapatia, together with the efforts of the Rajshahi Association, won approval to begin degree courses.

প্রথম শ্রেণির কলেজের মর্যাদা ও সরকারি নামকরণ
First-class status and its official name
কলেজটি প্রথম শ্রেণির কলেজের মর্যাদা অর্জন করে এবং কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধিভুক্ত হয়ে বি.এ. কোর্স চালু করে। একই সঙ্গে প্রতিষ্ঠানটির সরকারি নামকরণ হয় 'রাজশাহী কলেজ'।
The college attained first-class status, affiliated to the University of Calcutta and began the B.A. course. It was at this point officially named 'Rajshahi College'.

৬৭,৭০০ টাকা ব্যয়ে একজন ব্রিটিশ প্রকৌশলীর নকশায় উপনিবেশিক স্থাপত্যশৈলীতে কলেজের প্রথম ভবন নির্মিত হয়।
The college's first building was raised in colonial style to a British engineer's design, at a cost of 67,700 taka.

দানবীর হাজী মোহাম্মদ মোহসিনের আর্থিক সহায়তায় কলেজ প্রাঙ্গণে একটি গ্যালারি ভবন নির্মাণ করা হয়।
A gallery building was constructed on the campus through the philanthropy of Haji Mohammad Mohsin.

The college's first residential hall, 'P.N. Hostel', was established at the initiative of the Rajshahi Association.

Unable to meet the conditions set by the reorganised University of Calcutta, the M.A. and B.L. courses were suspended.

Fuller Hostel
বাংলার গভর্নর মি. ফুলারের সহায়তায় ফুলার হোস্টেল নির্মিত হয়। ১৯৩০ সালে এটি সম্পূর্ণভাবে কলেজের অধীনে আসে।
Fuller Hostel was built with the help of Mr Fuller, Governor of Bengal. It passed fully to the college in 1930.

রাজশাহী অ্যাসোসিয়েশন এবং অধ্যক্ষ কুমুদিনীকান্ত বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে মোট ৩,৫৩,৮৬৩ টাকা ব্যয়ে পাঁচটি হোস্টেল নির্মিত হয়।
Five hostels were built at a total cost of 3,53,863 taka, at the initiative of the Rajshahi Association and Principal Kumudinikanta Bandyopadhyay.

Enrolment approaches one thousand
এই সময় কলেজে শিক্ষার্থীর সংখ্যা প্রায় এক হাজারে পৌঁছে। পরের বছর প্রথমবারের মতো নারী শিক্ষার্থী ভর্তি শুরু হয়।
Student numbers reached around a thousand. The following year women were admitted for the first time.

ধিগপাথিয়ার বসন্তকুমার রায়ের অর্থায়নে রাজশাহী কলেজের তত্ত্বাবধানে বসন্তকুমার কৃষি প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি ১৯৫২ সালে বন্ধ হয়ে যায়।
Founded under the college's supervision with funding from Basantakumar Roy of Dighapatia. The institute closed in 1952.

The Language Movement's first martyrs' memorial
২১ ফেব্রুয়ারির ভাষা আন্দোলনে শহীদদের স্মরণে শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্যোগে একটি স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ নির্মিত হয়, যা ভাষা আন্দোলনের প্রথম শহীদ স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ হিসেবে পরিচিত।
Teachers and students raised a memorial to those martyred in the Language Movement of 21 February — known as the first such memorial of the movement.

The memorial rebuilt
পুরোনো স্মৃতিস্তম্ভের পরিবর্তে নতুন স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ নির্মাণ করা হয়। ১৯৭১ সালে পাকিস্তানি বাহিনী এটি ধ্বংস করে দেয়।
A new memorial replaced the old one. Pakistani forces destroyed it in 1971.
